Chilean LNB round 6 best performance: Erik Thomas

American-Argentinian Power forward Erik Thomas (195-PF-1995) had an amazing evening in the last round for top-ranked Asociacion Basquetbol Ancud, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 28-year old player had a double-double of 32 points and 13 rebounds, while his team outclassed Puerto Varas (#9, 2-4) with 28-point margin 109-81. It allowed Ancud to consolidate first place in the Chilean LNB. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Ancud already had a very good start winning all 6 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Thomas had a remarkable 68.4% from 2-point range. He turned to be Ancud's top player in his first season with the team. Former University of New Orleans star has very solid stats this year. Thomas is in league's top in points (3rd best: 21.5ppg) and averages impressive 58.1% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Jamal Poplar (204-F/C-1996) of Club Deportes Espanol de Talca. Poplar had a very good evening with a double-double of 34 points and 22 rebounds. Bad luck as Espanol lost that game 79-99 to the higher-ranked Las Animas (#5, 4-2). This loss caused Espanol to slide to the very bottom (14) position in the standings. 3 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Poplar is a newcomer at Espanol, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 25.3ppg (#1). He also registered 14.3 boards per game. Former Seward County Community College star Poplar is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Domont'a Wright (202-F/C-1999) of CD Liceo Pablo Neruda (#10). Wright scored 26 points and grabbed 22 rebounds (!!!). Despite Wright's great performance the Liceo PN lost 70-73 to the higher-ranked Valdivia (#4, 4-1). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Liceo PN can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-4 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Wright he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Wright has individually a great season in Chile. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 17.2rpg (#1 in league).
