LNB 2 Round 2 (Regular Season): Arabe de Valp. keep a leadership position

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in LNB 2. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Arabe de Valp. defeated Arturo Prat in Valparaiso 79-65. Arabe de Valp. forced 22 Arturo Prat turnovers. Forward Nicolas Vargas orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international center Carlos Aranda (200) contributed with 18 points (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) for the winners. Arabe de Valp.'s coach Matias Carcamo used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Felix Rivas replied with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for Arturo Prat. Arturo Prat will play next round against strong Colo Colo trying to get back on the winning streak. Arabe de Valp. will try to continue on its current victory against Brisas in Santiago.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Aleman in Santiago. Visitors were defeated by Sergio Ceppi 72-64. Forward Gabriel Gonzalez had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 18 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Boris Guerra chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The former international Eduardo Marechal (186-1985) responded with 17 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Aleman's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Sergio Ceppi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Santiago to the arena Stadio Italiano.
The game in Santiago supposed to be also quite interesting. Aleman played at the court of Boston College. Aleman did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 84-64 on Sunday. Sebastian Pereira notched a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort. Even 17 points and 8 rebounds by Lucas Marquez did not help to save the game for Boston College. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 2: winless Municipal C. was beaten by Stadio Italiano on the road 80-63. Colo Colo won against Truenos on its own court 81-75. Winless Boston College lost to undefeated Luis Matte in a road game 62-73. Quilpue managed to beat Brisas at home 82-73. Winless Municipal C. lost to undefeated Sergio Ceppi on the opponent's court 43-70.



Stadio Italiano - Municipal C. 80-63

There was a small surprise when Stadio Italiano beat Municipal C. in Santiago 80-63 on Saturday. Stadio Italiano forced 22 Municipal C. turnovers. Strangely Municipal C. outrebounded Stadio Italiano 41-24 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international Ramiro Galvez notched 16 points to lead the effort and swingman Francisco Pena (187) supported him with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Even 21 points by Patricio Penaloza (-2000) did not help to save the game for Municipal C.. Center Matias Villagran (199) added 8 points and 14 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Stadio Italiano will meet at home Quilpue in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Municipal C. will play against Truenos in Talca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Very expected game when Truenos lost to Colo Colo in Santiago 75-81 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Colo Colo forced 19 Truenos turnovers. Cristian Urrutia (-1999) notched 18 points, 6 assists and 5 steals to lead the effort and forward Mauricio Serrano supported him with 18 points. Colo Colo's coach Ernesto Menchaca allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists by forward Martin Morales did not help to save the game for Truenos. Forward Nick Morales (187-1985) added 13 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Four Colo Colo and five Truenos players scored in double figures. Colo Colo will meet Arturo Prat in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Truenos will play against Municipal C. and hope to win that game.

Not a big story in a game when Brisas lost on the road to Quilpue 82-73 on Saturday. Quilpue outrebounded Brisas 53-41 including a 39-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hilario Sanchez (-1999) notched 28 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and Jose Toledo (-2002) supported him with 11 points and 15 rebounds. Four Quilpue players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 9 rebounds by Luis Cutis (-1995) did not help to save the game for Brisas. Guard Felipe Oyarzun (187) added 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. Brisas' coach Javier Escobar tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Quilpue will meet Stadio Italiano in the next round where they are favorite. Brisas will play against Arabe de Valp. and hope to win that game.
