Juan Fontena claims Chilean LNB Hoops Agents weekly honour

Experienced Naturalized Venezuelan Power forward Juan Fontena (196-F/C-1987) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's leader Asociacion Basquetbol Ancud and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 15.
The 36-year old power forward had the game-high 29 points adding nine rebounds and two assists for Ancud in his team's victory, helping them to outclass Liceo PN (#13, 4-13) with 28-point margin 96-68. It allowed Ancud to consolidate first place in the Chilean LNB. Ancud have a solid 16-2 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Fontena as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Juan Fontena averages this season 9.7ppg and 7.4rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American Rakim Brown (198-SF-1991) of Club Deportes Las Animas. Brown impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 32 points and 10 rebounds. It was enough for Las Animas to edge slightly lower-ranked Puerto Varas (#7, 8-10) by 4 points 93-89. Las Animas' 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 12-7 record is not bad and everything may still change. Brown is a newcomer at Las Animas and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.9ppg (#3). He also registered 10.0 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was Maximo Gonzalez (2003) of CD Espanol Osorno (#3). Gonzalez scored 24 points. He was a key player of Espanol, leading his team to a 110-52 easy win against the lower-ranked Puerto Montt (#12, 5-13). Espanol needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 14 victories and 5 lost games. Gonzalez has a very solid season. In 16 games in Chile he scored 4.0ppg.
