Mendes' double-double lands him Player of the Week award

27-year old Brazilian center Gabriel Mendes (206-C-1996) had an amazing evening in the last round for CD Liceo Pablo Neruda and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 16.
He had a double-double of 29 points and 18 rebounds, while his team lost the game against Puente Alto (#8, 8-10) 78-92. Liceo PN moved-up to the 14th position in Chilean league. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked at the very bottom. They already lost 15 games and recorded just four victories. In the team's last game Mendes had a remarkable 76.9% from 2-point range. It was one of impressive evenings for him as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Gabriel Mendes averages this season 11.9ppg and 7.9rpg.

Second best performed player last round was Alvaro Pena (197-SG-1995, agency: Starting 5) of CD Universidad Catolica de Santiago. He is Colombian guard in his first season at Catolica. In the last game Pena recorded an impressive double-double of 27 points and 18 rebounds. Bad luck as Catolica lost that game 82-87 to the higher-ranked Concepcion (#3, 15-4). Catolica is still in a red zone at 11th spot in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 6-13 record. Pena is one of the most experienced players at Catolica and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.9ppg (#5). He also registered 8.8 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Derrick Woods (203-F-1996, agency: SLN) of CD Universidad de Concepcion (#3). Woods scored 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Concepcion, leading his team to a 95-81 easy win against the lower-ranked Espanol T. (#13, 4-14). Concepcion needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 15 victories and 4 lost games. Woods has a very solid season. In 18 games in Chile he scored 16.2ppg. He also has 7.9rpg, 1.1bpg and a FGP of 61.2%.
