Jerry Evans claims Chilean LNB weekly honour

Experienced American Jerry Evans (203-F-1990) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's second-best Colegio Los Leones de Quilpue and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 18.
The 33-year old forward had the game-high 28 points adding seven rebounds and five assists for Los Leones in his team's victory, helping them to beat Ancud (#1, 17-3) 102-87. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Los Leones is placed at 2nd position in Chilean LNB. They are still close to the very top. Los Leones would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 17-4 record. In the team's last game Evans had a remarkable six three-pointers out of 10 attempts. He turned to be Los Leones' top player in his first season with the team. Jerry Evans averages this season 16.5ppg and 6.5rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Colombian power forward Santiago Serna (203-F/C-2001) of Club Deportes Espanol de Talca. Serna impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 22 points and 18 rebounds. Bad luck as Espanol lost that game 83-101 to the higher-ranked Puerto Varas (#7, 9-11). Espanol is still second from the bottom in the standings. 15 lost games are too many comparing to just five victories Espanol managed to get this year. Serna is a newcomer at Espanol and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Xavier Gibson (210-F/C-1988) of top-ranked Asociacion Basquetbol Ancud. Gibson scored 20 points and grabbed 16 rebounds (!!!). Despite Gibson's great performance the Ancud lost 87-102 to #2 ranked Los Leones. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Ancud had another "accident". It may be a crucial game and cause dropping from the group of top ranked teams. The record is still good, but 3rd lost game is hopefully really an accident. Gibson's teammates are also very good. That's why having such high stats is even more impressive. Gibson has a very solid season. In 20 games in Chile he scored 12.3ppg. He also has 7.2rpg, 1.3bpg and a FGP of 55.0%.
