Troncoso's 18 points and 7 rebounds give her Player of the Week award

Daniela Troncoso

36-year old forward Daniela Troncoso (178-F-1987) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's best team Universitares De la Frontera Temuco and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
She had the game-high 18 points adding seven rebounds and two assists for Frontera in her team's victory, helping them to beat UCSC (#6, 0-1), the league's bottom-ranked team 65-59. Thanks to this victory Frontera moved-up to the 1st position in Chilean LNF. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Frontera won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. It's Troncoso's second year at Frontera and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Troncoso has impressive league stats. She is league's best scorer averaging so far 18.0ppg. Troncoso is in league's top in rebounds (8th best: 7.0rpg) and averages solid 3.0spg,66.7% FGP and 50.0% from behind 3-point line.

Second best performed player last round was Betsy Guilarte (186-C-2003) of top-ranked Municipal Puente Alto. She is Cuban center in her first season at Puente Alto. In the last game Guilarte recorded an impressive double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds. Of course she led Puente Alto to another comfortable win 60-43 over Sergio Ceppi (0-1) being unquestionably team leader. Her team has extremely good start of the season. They won their first game. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Guilarte is one of the most experienced players at Puente Alto and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 13.0ppg (#5). She also registered 14.0 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to Betsabe Pizarro (173-F -2005) of UC Santisima Concepcion (#6). Pizarro scored 14 points and passed 4 assists. Despite Pizarro's great performance the UCSC lost 59-65 to Frontera (#1, 1-0). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. UCSC can only dream about fighting for top spots in Zona South. The season just started for Pizarro as she played only first game. But it already looks like she can be team's leader.
