Katalina Garcia claims Chilean LNF weekly honour

Katalina Garcia (182-C-1994) had an amazing evening in the last round for Club Sergio Ceppi Santiago and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 29-year old center had a double-double of 18 points and 22 rebounds, while her team beat Puente Alto (#5, 2-4) 58-49. Sergio Ceppi maintains the 4th position in their group in the Chilean LNF. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost two games earlier this season. Sergio Ceppi will need more victories to improve their 3-2 record. It's Garcia's second year at Sergio Ceppi and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Garcia has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in rebounds (7th best: 10.8rpg).

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American Stephanie Madden (186-C/F-1988) of second-ranked CD Universitario Concepcion. Madden impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 23 points and 18 rebounds. Of course she led Univ.Concepcion to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked UCSC (#5, 1-4) 95-59. Univ.Concepcion's second position in Zona South has not changed. Her team's 5-2 record is not bad at all. Madden is one of the most experienced players at Univ.Concepcion and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.0ppg (#5). She also registered 13.3 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was another Univ.Concepcion's star - Mexican Myriam Lara (188-F/C-1994). Lara scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds (!!!). She was another key player of CD Universitario Concepcion, helping her team with a 100-48 easy win against Puerto Montt (#6, 0-6). Univ.Concepcion needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in Zona South. Their record at this point is 5 victories and 2 lost games. Lara has a great season in Chile. After only 7 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.3ppg (6th best) and rebounds with 12.7rpg (4th best).
