LNB 2 Round 13 (Regular Season): Sergio Ceppi beat Stadio Italiano by one after a very close game

The most exciting game of round 13 in the LNB 2 took place in Santiago. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Stadio Italiano (8-6) to third ranked Sergio Ceppi (10-5) 68-67 on Saturday evening. Sergio Ceppi made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Stadio Italiano helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Gabriel Gonzalez who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Power forward Boris Guerra (-1987) contributed with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Swingman Francisco Pena (187) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds for Stadio Italiano. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Sergio Ceppi have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Stadio Italiano at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Truenos. Sergio Ceppi are looking forward to face Truenos (#5) in Talca in the next round. Stadio Italiano will play at home against Aleman and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
LNB 2 top team - Colo Colo (14-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Arturo Prat (2-12) in Santiago 115-58. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Arturo Prat. Point guard Diego Valenzuela (185-1994) stepped up and scored 27 points and 6 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and Devaughn Jenkins chipped in 13 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side Erick Farias (-1990) responded with 16 points and 5 steals. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Colo Colo have an impressive series of fourteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-0 record. Arturo Prat at the other side dropped to the bottom position with 12 games lost. Colo Colo's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Santiago to the arena Brisas.
The game in Puerto Varas was also quite interesting. Third ranked Boston College (9-5) played at the court of 6th ranked Aleman (7-7). Boston College managed to secure a 5-point victory 77-72 on Saturday. Manuel Lambrisca nailed 30 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Sebastian Pereira came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for Aleman in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Boston College. They maintain third place with 9-5 record having five points less than leader Colo Colo. Aleman lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with seven games lost. Boston College will meet at home Quilpue (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Aleman will play against Stadio Italiano in Santiago and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 13 Truenos beat Municipal C. on the road 72-54.




Municipal C. - Truenos 54-72

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Truenos (8-6) beat on the road 10th ranked Municipal C. (5-10) 72-54 on Saturday. Forward Martin Morales nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side and forward Nick Morales (187-1985) accounted for 14 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Truenos' coach Carlos Morales used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Benjamin Cabello (-1999) came up with 16 points and 9 rebounds and center Matias Villagran (199) added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Municipal C. in the defeat. Truenos moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Stadio Italiano. Municipal C. lost their third game in a row. They keep the tenth position with ten games lost. Truenos will meet at home league's second-placed Sergio Ceppi in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Municipal C. will play against Arturo Prat (#12) in San Felipe and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

They outrebounded Arturo Prat 49-31 including a 41-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Colo Colo players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Arturo Prat's players.
