An interesting game for Leones (6-2) which played road game in Santiago against one of their biggest challengers Sergio Ceppi (4-6). Third ranked Leones had an easy win 81-63. Leones dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Sergio Ceppi's 36. Leones forced 21 Sergio Ceppi turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of U.S. Virgin Islands guard Taylor Jones (173-1997, college: Oakland) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. American forward Korinne Campbell (184-1988, college: WVU) contributed with 19 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Forward Pia Henriquez (-2003) replied with 20 points and 8 rebounds for Sergio Ceppi. Sergio Ceppi's coach Roberto Ostoic rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Leones maintains third position with 6-2 record having 2 victories less than leader Alemana P. Sergio Ceppi lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with six games lost. Leones are looking forward to face league's second-placed CDSC in Santiago in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sergio Ceppi will have a break next round.
An interesting game for Alemana (8-0) which hosted in Paillaco 4th ranked Frontera (3-5). Top-ranked Alemana had an easy win 90-70. The former international center Tatiana Gomez (192-1981) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Daniela Dublo chipped in 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side point guard Damaris Alarcon (167-2003) responded with 18 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Alemana have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-0 record. Frontera lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with five games lost. Alemana will play against league's second-placed Univ.Concepcion on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Frontera will play against Puerto Montt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Concepcion was also quite interesting. Third ranked Espanol (6-4) played at the court of 5th ranked UCSC (2-6). Espanol defeated UCSC 60-47 on Sunday. Anahi Albornoz notched 20 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort. Even 15 points and 9 rebounds by Josefa Catalan did not help to save the game for UCSC. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Espanol maintains third position with 6-4 record having just two points less than leader Alemana P. UCSC at the other side keeps the fifth place with six games lost. Espanol will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. UCSC will play against the league's leader Alemana (#1) and hope to secure a win.
The most impressive performance of 10th round was 12 points and 19 rebounds by Barbara Hauschild of Espanol.
