LNF Round 11 (Regular Season): CDSC lose to Leones

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

Round 11 most important game was a defeat of league's leader CDSC (8-2). They were defeated by third ranked Leones (7-3) 88-79 on Sunday night. It was a great evening for U.S. Virgin Islands guard Taylor Jones (173-1997, college: Oakland) who led her team to a victory scoring 33 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Aliyah Mazyck (175-1996, college: USC) helped adding 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international guard Fernanda Ovalle (178-2003, college: Xavier) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Leones maintains third place with 7-3 record behind leader Alemana P. CDSC at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Alemana P. who have the same record.
The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Alemana (9-1) on the court of second ranked Univ.Concepcion. Visitors were edged by Univ.Concepcion 75-73. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Alemana P.. It was a key game for the top position in the league. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Stephanie Madden (186-1988, college: Langston) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds. Barbara Cousino accounted for 25 points and 9 rebounds. American center Alexus Johnson (197-1994, college: Texas Southern) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds for Alemana in the defeat. Univ.Concepcion (8-2) have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Sportiva Ita. and CDSC. Alemana at the other side still keeps top place with one game lost.

CDSC maintains first place with 8-2 record, which they share with Sportiva Ita. and Univ.Concepcion. Loser Leones keep the third position with three games lost.

In the last two games of round 11 Alemana destroyed UCSC on the opponent's court 102-60. Frontera managed to outperform Puerto Montt in a home game 63-49.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 23 points and 16 rebounds by Constanza Cardenas of Frontera.

UCSC - Alemana P. 60-102

Very expected game in Concepcion where 5th ranked UCSC (2-7) was crushed by first ranked Alemana (9-1) 102-60 on Saturday. Alemana dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to UCSC's 32. Alemana looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Italian-Argentinian Daniela Dublo (184-1988) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international center Tatiana Gomez (192-1981) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds. Five Alemana P. players scored in double figures. Josefa Catalan (-2003) produced 17 points and 9 rebounds and Constanza Mella (-2009) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. UCSC's coach Alejandro Gyllen gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Alemana. They maintain first place with 9-1 record. Loser UCSC keeps the fifth position with seven games lost.

Rather predictable result in Temuco where fourth ranked Frontera (4-5) defeated bottom-ranked Puerto Montt (0-10) 63-49 on Sunday. Frontera outrebounded Puerto Montt 46-32 including 35 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Constanza Cardenas (-1998) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds. Argentinian forward Aylen Valdez (183-1997) chipped in 9 points and 10 rebounds. Argentinian guard Paola Alegre (162-2001) produced 15 points and 4 assists and Argentinian center Julieta Ibarra (180-1998) added 8 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Puerto Montt's coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Frontera maintains fourth place with 4-5 record. Puerto Montt lost their tenth game in a row. They still close the standings with ten games lost. They share the position with Gimnastico.
