The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Santiago: Stadio Italiano (#6) and Boston College (#4). Stadio Italiano (9-7) won against visiting Boston College (10-7) 76-72. Stadio Italiano outrebounded Boston College 47-31 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international Ramiro Galvez fired a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Guard Ramon Gatica (185-1996) chipped in 9 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Lucas Marquez (196-2003) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Stadio Italiano moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Aleman. Boston College at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Stadio Italiano is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Arturo Prat (#12) in San Felipe in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Boston College will play on the road against Truenos (#3) in Talca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Sergio Ceppi at the other side keeps the second place with seven games lost. Brisas will play against higher ranked Aleman (#6) in Puerto Varas in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Sergio Ceppi will play against Luis Matte (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

At the losing side Maximiliano Lopez responded with 17 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Colo Colo (17-0) have an impressive 17-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 17 victories in a row. Loser Quilpue keeps the eighth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Municipal C.. Colo Colo will meet at home Arabe de Valp. (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Quilpue will have a break next round.

In the last two games of round 16 Aleman defeated Arturo Prat in Puerto Varas 80-72. Truenos smashed Quilpue at home 79-58.




Brisas - Sergio Ceppi 72-60

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Sergio Ceppi (11-7) against eleventh ranked Brisas (3-12) on Saturday night. Visiting Sergio Ceppi was defeated by Brisas in Santiago 72-60. Sergio Ceppi was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Luis Cutis (-1995) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 17 rebounds. Forward Claudio Parraguirre (178) contributed with 9 points and 6 assists for the winners. Colo Colo dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Quilpue's 20. Colo Colo forced 27 Quilpue turnovers and outrebounded them 42-29 including 33 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a quality performance of point guard Diego Valenzuela (185-1994) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and the former international Jorge Schuler (199) who added 10 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Worth to mention a great performance of center Sebastian Pereira (203-2005) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and forward Jose Campos (-2002) who added 20 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Fred Pierre (-1990) responded with 16 points and 9 rebounds and Matias Gonzalez (-2001) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Arturo Prat players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Aleman moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Stadio Italiano. Arturo Prat lost fourth consecutive game. No shocking result in a game in Talca where fourth ranked Truenos (10-6) smashed 8th ranked Quilpue (7-10) 79-58 on Sunday. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Nick Morales (187-1985) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and the former international guard Sebastian Saez (190-1984) who added 16 points during the contest. Four Truenos players scored in double figures. Truenos' coach Carlos Morales felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest.
