LNB 2 Round 18 (Regular Season): Quilpue beat Sergio Ceppi by two after a very close game

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-best Sergio Ceppi (12-8) to ninth ranked Quilpue (8-11) 62-60 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It was a good game for Maximiliano Lopez (-2003) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 4 assists. Jose Toledo (-2002) contributed with 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Rodrigo Sepulveda replied with 13 points and 7 rebounds for Sergio Ceppi. Sergio Ceppi's coach Eduardo Sepulveda rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Quilpue moved-up to eighth place. Sergio Ceppi at the other side dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. Quilpue's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in to the arena .
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Santiago: Colo Colo (#1) and Boston College (#6). Boston College was defeated at home 68-75 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Cristian Urrutia (-1999) scored 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Jose Collao chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Argentinian swingman Manuel Lambrisca (192-1997) with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Colo Colo (19-0) have an impressive 19-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 19 victories in a row. Boston College lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with nine games lost. Colo Colo will play against Aleman (#5) in Puerto Varas in the next round. Boston College will play on the road against Arturo Prat in San Felipe and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Francisco Atala notched 18 points (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) to lead the effort. Even 17 points and 5 rebounds by Nicolas Vargas did not help to save the game for Arabe de Valp.. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Undefeated Colo Colo have an impressive 19-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 19-0 record. Arabe de Valp. lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with ten games lost. Colo Colo will meet Aleman (#5) in the next round. Arabe de Valp. will play against the league's second-placed Stadio Italiano (#2) and hope to secure a win.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 18: Truenos smashed Arturo Prat on the road 112-69. Brisas were destroyed by Stadio Italiano on its own court 45-64. Aleman unfortunately lost to Luis Matte in a road game 89-90.




Quilpue - Sergio Ceppi 62-60

Arturo Prat - Truenos 69-112

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Truenos (12-7) crushed bottom-ranked Arturo Prat (2-17) in San Felipe 112-69 on Saturday. Truenos dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Arturo Prat's 38. Truenos looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Arturo Prat's players. Forward Martin Morales notched a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and forward Nick Morales (187-1985) supported him with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 21 points and 9 rebounds by Felix Rivas did not help to save the game for Arturo Prat. Matias Gonzalez (-2001) added 9 points and 13 rebounds. Arturo Prat's coach Victor Rios gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Truenos moved-up to second place, which they share with Stadio Italiano. Arturo Prat lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Truenos will meet at home Brisas (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Arturo Prat will play against Boston College and hope to secure a win.

Very expected game when 11th ranked Brisas (4-14) were smashed by fourth ranked Stadio Italiano (12-7) in Santiago 64-45 on Sunday. Stadio Italiano outrebounded Brisas 46-27 including a 38-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Swingman Francisco Pena (187) notched a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and the former international Ramiro Galvez supported him with 12 points. Even 15 points and 5 rebounds by power forward Sascha Frings (202-1986) did not help to save the game for Brisas. Forward Sebastian Roa (-1991) added 9 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Stadio Italiano have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Truenos. Loser Brisas keep the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Stadio Italiano will meet Arabe de Valp. (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Brisas will play against Truenos in Talca and hope to secure a win.

There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Luis Matte (7-11) edged at home higher ranked Aleman (11-8) 90-89 on Saturday. Luis Matte looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Naturalized Venezuelan forward Angel Galaviz (198-2000) notched a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Alvaro Guzman supported him with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists by the former international Eduardo Marechal (186-1985) did not help to save the game for Aleman. Center Sebastian Pereira (203-2005) added 20 points and 6 rebounds. Five Luis Matte and four Aleman players scored in double figures. Luis Matte maintains tenth position with 7-11 record. Loser Aleman keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. Luis Matte will meet league's second-placed Stadio Italiano in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Aleman will play against the league's leader Colo Colo where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
