Jonathan Ocasio claims Chilean CUP weekly honour

Experienced American-Puerto Rican Jonathan Ocasio (196-F-1992) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's leader Club Deportes Puente Alto and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 32-year old forward had a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds, while his team crushed Sportiva Italiana (#5, 1-2) with 22-point margin 90-68. It allowed Puente Alto to jump to the first place in the Chilean CUP. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Puente Alto already had a very good start winning all 3 without losing a single one. Ocasio turned to be Puente Alto's top player in his first season with the team. New Haven University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Ocasio is in league's top in points (5th best: 19.7ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 13.0rpg) and averages solid 51.2% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American forward Yahota Rasas (201-F-1999) of CD Espanol Osorno. Rasas impressed basketball fans with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Bad luck as Espanol was edged by Univ.Concepcion (4-0) 77-74. The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Rasas is a newcomer at Espanol and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.5ppg (#6). He also registered 7.5 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was American Josh Morris (203-F-1993) of second-ranked Club Deportes Puerto Varas. Morris showcased his all-around game by recording 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in the last round. He was a key player of Puerto Varas, leading his team to a 91-70 easy win against Valdivia (#6, 0-3). Puerto Varas needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in South. Their record at this point is 2 victories and 2 lost games. Morris has a great season in Chile. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.8ppg (9th best).
