Chilean LNB round 16 best performance: Gaspar Hernandez

Shooting guard Gaspar Hernandez (SG-1999) had an amazing evening in the last round for Sportiva Italiana Valparaiso, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 16.
The 25-year old player was the main contributor (46 points, five rebounds and seven assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Puerto Varas (#5, 10-8) 98-91. Sportiva Italiana maintains the 4th position in Chilean LNB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Sportiva Italiana will need more victories to improve their 13-4 record. In the team's last game Hernandez had a remarkable 73.3% from 2-point range. He turned to be Sportiva Italiana's top player in his first season with the team. Gaspar Hernandez has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (8th best: 18.5ppg), assists (6th best: 5.8apg) and averages impressive 51.7% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Rashad Hassan (203-C/F-1989) of Club Deportes Las Animas. Hassan had a very good evening with a double-double of 30 points and 13 rebounds. It was enough for Las Animas to edge slightly higher-ranked Puente Alto (#8, 8-10) 87-86. This victory allowed Las Animas to move up to 9th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 6-12 record. Hassan is a newcomer at Las Animas, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.6ppg (#2). He also registered 10.8 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American swingman Dennis McKinney (194-G/F-1998) of Colo Colo Santiago (#6). McKinney scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Despite McKinney's great performance the Colo Colo lost 71-87 to the higher-ranked Espanol O. (#3, 14-4). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Colo Colo ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 9 games, recording just eight victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, McKinney could help Colo Colo to bring them higher in the standings. McKinney has a great season in Chile. After 17 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.3ppg (4th best).
