Federico Herrera claims Chilean LNB Hoops Agents weekly honour

Experienced Argentinian Federico Herrera (200-F/C-1993) put on an amazing game in the last round for Sportiva Italiana Valparaiso and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 17.
The 31-year old power forward had a double-double of 19 points and 16 rebounds, while his team edged out Valdivia (#11, 2-16) 99-97. Sportiva Italiana maintains the 4th position in Chilean LNB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Sportiva Italiana will need more victories to improve their 13-4 record. Herrera has many years of experience at Sportiva Italiana, through which he has constantly improved. Federico Herrera averages this season 9.4ppg and 6.8rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American center Dishon Lowery (200-C-1998) of Club Deportivo Valdivia. Lowery impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 22 points and 15 rebounds. Bad luck as Valdivia was edged by the higher-ranked Sportiva Italiana (#4, 13-4) 99-97. Valdivia is still in a red zone at 11th spot in the standings. 16 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Valdivia managed to get this year. Lowery is a newcomer at Valdivia and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was another Sportiva Italiana's star - American Manny Payton (183-PG-1997). Payton got into 30-points club by scoring 33 points in the last round. He was another key player of Sportiva Italiana Valparaiso, helping his team with a 99-97 win against the lower-ranked Valdivia (#11, 2-16). Sportiva Italiana needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 13 victories and 4 lost games. Payton has a great season in Chile. After 14 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.5ppg (best scorer). Payton attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.
