Chilean LNB round 19 best performance: Marcelo Perez

International Guard Marcelo Perez (196-G-1999) had a great game in the last round for Club Deportes Puerto Varas, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 19.
The 25-year old player was the main contributor (33 points, seven rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Sportiva Italiana (#4, 13-7) 88-81. Puerto Varas maintains the 5th position in Chilean LNB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Puerto Varas will need more victories to improve their 13-8 record. In the team's last game Perez had a remarkable 60.0% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 6 attempts. He turned to be Puerto Varas' top player in his first season with the team. Marcelo Perez averages this season 15.9ppg.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Stephen Maxwell (201-F-1993) of league's leader CD Universidad de Concepcion. Maxwell had a very good evening with 27 points and 8 rebounds. Of course he led Univ.Concepcion to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Espanol T. (#12, 1-20) 104-65. Of course Univ.Concepcion still keep the league's top spot. His team lost just three games this season, while they won 18 matches. Maxwell is a newcomer at Univ.Concepcion, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.8ppg (#1). He also registered 7.7 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Justin Strings (201-F-1996) of Club Deportes Puente Alto (#6). Strings scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. He was a key player of Puente Alto, leading his team to a 97-58 easy win against the lower-ranked Las Animas (#9, 8-13). The chances of Puente Alto ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 11 games, recording just ten victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Strings could help Puente Alto to bring them higher in the standings. Strings has a great season in Chile. After 21 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.9ppg (6th best) and rebounds with 8.8rpg (7th best).
