LNB2 Round 2 (Regular Season): Boston College lose to Stadio Italiano

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in LNB 2. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The biggest surprise of round 2 in LNB 2 took place in Santiago where host Stadio Italiano edged Boston College 71-68 on Saturday evening. Stadio Italiano made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was forward Gabriel Gonzalez (-2001) who scored 28 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Uruguayan Renzo Valenzani (-2004) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. point guard Cristobal Ordonez (195-2004) produced 17 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.
Illaplel edged The Sharks at home 80-77. Guard Matias Sepulveda (-1995) orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points. Eduardo Sepulveda contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Juan Videla (195-1989) replied with 15 points and 8 rebounds for The Sharks. The Sharks' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.
Brisas recorded a loss in Santiago on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by Sergio Ceppi 76-65. Elias Donoso had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. Sebastian Villarroel responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Rest of the games of round 2 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Liceo Curico defeated Constitucion in a road game 78-76. Winless Aleman lost to undefeated Puerto Montt at home 74-98. Arabe de Valp. destroyed Arturo Prat on the opponent's court 90-56. Winless Tinguiririca lost to undefeated Truenos in a home game 69-75. Winless Huachipato was rolled over Temuco on the road 56-88.



Brisas - Sergio Ceppi 65-76

Brisas recorded a loss in Santiago on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by Sergio Ceppi 76-65. Sergio Ceppi forced 21 Brisas turnovers. Forward Elias Donoso (-1986) had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Uruguayan Michael Viazzo (-2004) chipped in 20 points during the contest. Sebastian Villarroel responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds and Cuban guard Luis Cuttis (-1995) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Constitucion - Liceo Curico 76-78

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when Constitucion was edged at home by Liceo Curico 78-76 on Saturday. Forward Sebastian Riquelme (188-1995) scored 23 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Claudio Lavin (-2000) chipped in 16 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Daniel Villegas (-1992) responded with 27 points and Brazilian power forward Enrico De Paula (205-2005) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game.

Aleman - Puerto Montt 74-98

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Puerto Montt's road victory over Aleman 98-74 on Saturday. Puerto Montt looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Colombian forward Leyder Moreno (195-2000) scored 26 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international point guard Tomas Alvarez (185-1989) chipped in 25 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) during the contest. Four Puerto Montt players scored in double figures. Forward Jose Campos (-2002) responded with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Renato Figueroa (-2003) scored 11 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.

There was a minor upset in San Felipe where Arturo Prat was rolled over by Arabe de Valp. 90-56 on Saturday. Arabe de Valp. held Arturo Prat to an opponent 21.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 51.4 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Arturo Prat 57-25 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Hilario Sanchez (-1999) had a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Jorge Higueras (174-1981) chipped in 8 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Guard Agustin Villalon (184-2000) responded with 26 points and Matias Porras (-1999) scored 20 points. Rather predictable result in San Fernando where Truenos beat Tinguiririca 75-69 on Saturday. Truenos forced 20 Tinguiririca turnovers. Forward Martin Morales (-2002) had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Nick Morales (187-1985) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Alfonso Gonzalez responded with 22 points and 8 rebounds and guard Carlos Fuenzalida (-1994) scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Four Tinguiririca players scored in double figures.

Temuco dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Huachipato's 30. Temuco forced 19 Huachipato turnovers.
