LNB2 Round 5 (Regular Season): Puerto Montt hands first defeat to Omega

There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in LNB 2. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Omega (2-1) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by Puerto Montt (4-0) 71-61. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Omega. The best player for the winners was Felipe Acuna (182-1992) who scored 22 points and 8 rebounds. Colombian forward Leyder Moreno (195-2000) chipped in 18 points and 10 rebounds. Jorge Bernal (-2002) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds for the hosts. Puerto Montt have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 4-0 record, which they share with Truenos. Omega at the other side keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with Aleman and Liceo Curico. Puerto Montt is looking forward to face Temuco (#4) on the road in the next round. Omega will play against Huachipato and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
Important game to mention about took place in . Leader Truenos (4-0) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 3rd placed Constitucion (2-2) 87-84 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Constitucion. Forward Martin Morales (-2002) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points. Kevin Henriquez contributed with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Brazilian power forward Enrico De Paula (205-2005) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 20 rebounds for Constitucion. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Truenos have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 4-0 record, which they share with Puerto Montt. Constitucion at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost. They share it with Arabe de Valp. and Stadio Italiano. Truenos will play against league's second-placed Liceo Curico at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Constitucion will have a break next round.
A very close game took place in Santiago between Brisas and Stadio Italiano. Fifth ranked Brisas (1-3) got a very close home victory over 3rd placed Stadio Italiano (2-2). Brisas managed to escape with a 2-point win 65-63 on Saturday evening. Luis Cuttis stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Ramiro Galvez responded with 22 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Brisas left bottom position moving up to fourth place, which they share with Temuco and Sergio Ceppi. Loser Stadio Italiano keeps the third position with two games lost. They share it with Arabe de Valp. and Constitucion. Brisas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Stadio Italiano's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santiago Sergio Ceppi.

Other games of round 5 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
winless Tinguiririca was crushed by Liceo Curico in a road game 96-56. Luis Matte smashed Sergio Ceppi at home 90-71. Winless Arturo Prat lost to Illaplel on the opponent's court 67-80. Aleman outscored Temuco in a home game 93-64. The Sharks recorded a loss to Quilpue on the road 81-65.
The best stats of 5th round was 17 points and 4 assists by Francisco Pavez of Omega.



Liceo Curico - Tinguiririca 96-56

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Tinguiririca (0-4) was crushed on the road by third ranked Liceo Curico (2-1) 96-56 on Sunday. Liceo Curico outrebounded Tinguiririca 53-38 including a 41-30 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Claudio Lavin (-2000) stepped up and scored 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and Brazilian Gabriel Cardoso (-2002) chipped in 12 points and 13 rebounds. Four Liceo Curico players scored in double figures. Forward Camilo Rivera (-1995) responded with 15 points and guard Ivan Pacheco (-1994) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Liceo Curico moved-up to second place, which they share with Aleman and Omega. Loser Tinguiririca still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Huachipato. Liceo Curico will meet league's leader Truenos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tinguiririca will play against Municipal C. (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
