Fernanda Ovalle claims Chilean LNF weekly honour

Talented International Guard Fernanda Ovalle (178-G-2003) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's leader Municipal Puente Alto and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 21-year old guard had a double-double of 33 points and 10 rebounds, while her team beat Sportiva Ita. (7-1) 93-79. It allowed Puente Alto to consolidate first place in the Chilean LNF. Puente Alto have a solid 7-1 record. In the team's last game Ovalle had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. She just recently signed at Puente Alto, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Xavier University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Ovalle is in league's top in points (6th best: 19.0ppg) and averages solid 1.1bpg and 66.7% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was Kiera Shields of C.D. Espanol. Shields impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 13 points and 15 rebounds. Bad luck as Espanol lost that game 65-76 to slightly higher-ranked Puerto Montt (#3, 3-2). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in Zona Sur. Espanol still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. 4 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Espanol managed to get this year. Shields is a newcomer at Espanol and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.5ppg (#5). Her other stats are also decent: 14.8rpg and 3.5apg.

The third best performed player last round was American Jade Compton (178-F) of top-ranked CD Universitario Concepcion. Compton showcased her all-around game by recording 26 points, 14 rebounds (!!!) and 5 assists in the last round. Despite Compton's great performance the Univ.Concepcion lost 85-87 to #2 ranked Alemana P.. But her team cannot count on just a single shooter as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Univ.Concepcion had another "accident". It may be a crucial game. Compton's teammates are also very good. That's why having such high stats is even more impressive. Compton has a great season in Chile. After only 5 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.8ppg (3rd best) and rebounds with 8.8rpg (5th best).
