Johnson's double-double lands her Player of the Week award

31-year old American center Alexus Johnson (197-C-1994) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's best team Colegio Los Leones Quilpe and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
She had a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds, while her team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team Brisas (#5, 0-2) with 58-point margin 102-44. It allowed Los Leones to consolidate first place in the Chilean LNF. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Los Leones won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Johnson had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range. She turned to be Los Leones' top player in her first season with the team. Texas Southern University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Johnson is in league's top in points (8th best: 13.0ppg), assists (9th best: 3.0apg) and averages solid 3.0spg.

Second best performed player last round was Betsy Guilarte (186-C-2003) of CD Gimnastico Vina del Mar. She is Cuban center in her first season at Gimnastico. In the last game Guilarte recorded an impressive double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Gimnastico was edged by Puente Alto (1-0) 60-58. The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Guilarte is a newcomer at Gimnastico and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.5ppg (#2). She also registered 8.0 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to another Los Leones' star - guard Martina Orellana (170-PG-2004). Orellana scored 22 points. She was another key player of Colegio Los Leones Quilpe, helping her team with a 102-44 easy win against Brisas (#5, 0-2). Los Leones has a very good start of the season. But there were just 2 games played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Orellana also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. Orellana has a great season in Chile. After only 2 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.0ppg (5th best).
