LNB Round 2 (Regular Season): Univ.Concepcion hands first defeat to Puerto Varas

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in LNB. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Puerto Varas recorded a loss on the court of Univ.Concepcion on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Univ.Concepcion 85-67. The best player for the winners was American forward Stephen Maxwell (201-1993, college: CSUN) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds. Nicolas Aguirre (-1998) chipped in 8 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Univ.Concepcion's coach Nicolas Altalef used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Joshua Morris (203-1993, college: UTPB) produced 15 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Univ.Concepcion is looking forward to face Ancud on the road in the next round. Puerto Varas will play against Espanol and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Santiago: Colo Colo and Univ.Catolica. Univ.Catolica was defeated at home 64-77 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Naturalized Argentinian center Franco Alippi (201-1998) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds. Antonio Pinedo contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Forward Vicente Damianovic (-1997) replied with 19 points for Univ.Catolica. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Colo Colo will play against Puente Alto at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Univ.Catolica will play against Espanol and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a road loss of Espanol against Las Animas on Sunday night. Visiting Espanol was defeated by Las Animas in a tough game in Valdivia 78-87. Fabian Martinez scored 26 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners. Carlos Lauler responded with 18 points. Las Animas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Valdivia Valdivia.

Rest of the games of round 2 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Boston College was defeated by Espanol in Talca 73-59. Espanol smashed Ancud at home 99-68. Puente Alto lost to Los Leones on the opponent's court 66-77.

Espanol T. - Boston College 73-59

Espanol used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Santiago 73-59 on Saturday night. Espanol forced 19 Boston College turnovers. Center Luciano Tognon (205-1994) scored 18 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Pablo Barraza (184-1994) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Espanol T. players scored in double figures. Lucas Marquez (196-2003) responded with 14 points and 8 rebounds and American forward TJ Robinson (203-1989, college: LBSU) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Espanol will meet Univ.Catolica in the next round. Boston College will play against Los Leones and hope to win that game.

Espanol used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Ancud 99-68 on Saturday night. Espanol forced 22 Ancud turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international guard Barham Amor (185-1996) had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Cuban forward Yasmany Fundora (201-1992) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Five Espanol O. players scored in double figures. Guard Patricio Arroyo (185-1996) responded with 16 points and 4 assists and American guard Darryl Owens (192-1997, college: Young Harris) scored 9 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Espanol will meet Puerto Varas on the road in the next round. Ancud will play against Univ.Concepcion and hope to win that game.
