Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

First defeat of league's leader Valdivia (2-1) against Las Animas (2-1) 79-76 was the most important game of the last round. Las Animas forced 20 Valdivia turnovers. It was a good game for Argentinian point guard Enzo Amado (183-1995) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 4 steals. Canadian forward Emanual Shepherd (203-1995, college: Southern) contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American Lenell Henry (203-1998, college: Alcorn St.) answered with 24 points and 6 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for Valdivia. Valdivia will play next round against strong Puerto Varas trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Las Animas will try to continue on its current victory against Ancud at home.
Very important is a road loss of Espanol (1-2) against Univ.Catolica (2-1) on Friday night. Visiting Espanol was crushed by Univ.Catolica in Santiago 87-62. It was a great evening for Brazilian center Pedro Leopoldino (206-1998) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. Tristan Harper helped adding 20 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Argentinian point guard Enzo Amado (183-1995) with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Univ.Catolica will play against Puente Alto (#4) on the road in the next round. Espanol will play against Los Leones to get more than just one victory in their record.
An interesting game for Colo Colo (2-1) which hosted in Santiago Puente Alto (1-2). Colo Colo managed to get a 8-point victory 67-59. It was an exceptional evening for Francisco Bravo who led the winners and scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Colo Colo's coach Ernesto Menchaca used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jonnivius Smith came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds for Puente Alto in the defeat. Colo Colo's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Santiago to the arena Boston College.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 3: Espanol was beaten by Puerto Varas on the road 76-68. Winless Boston College lost to undefeated Los Leones on its own court 59-79. Univ.Concepcion managed to outperform Ancud in a road game 84-75.




Puerto Varas - Espanol O. 76-68

There was a small surprise when Puerto Varas (2-1) beat at home Espanol (1-3) 76-68 on Thursday. Puerto Varas outrebounded Espanol 43-32 including 33 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Joshua Morris (203-1993, college: UTPB) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. The former international guard Marcelo Perez (196-1999, college: Southern Miss) accounted for 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Puerto Varas players scored in double figures. Cuban forward Yasmany Fundora (201-1992) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and the former international Carlos Lauler (190-1996) added 20 points and 9 assists respectively for Espanol in the defeat. Puerto Varas will meet at home Valdivia (#4) in the next round. Espanol will play against Univ.Concepcion and hope to win that game.

Rather predictable result when Univ.Concepcion (3-1) won against on the road Ancud (0-3) 84-75 on Friday. American players dominated the game. It was an exceptional evening for forward Stephen Maxwell (201-1993, college: CSUN) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. point guard Emmanuel Payton-Clottey (183-1997, college: FSU) accounted for 19 points for the winning side. Payton-Clottey is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Jeremy McLaughlin (203-1995, college: Catawba, agency: Interperformances) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Darryl Owens (192-1997, college: Young Harris) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Ancud in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ancud's coach Sebastian Luis Figueredo rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Univ.Concepcion will meet Espanol (#5) in the next round. Ancud will play against Las Animas in Valdivia and hopes to get finally their first victory.
