Espanol de Osorno Crowned 2026 LNB SuperCopa Champions in Last-Second Thriller- March 23, 2026Espanol de Osorno are the champions of the Super Copa Chery by Cecinas Llanquihue 2026, edging Puerto Varas Basket 77–76 in a heart-stopping final at the Edificio de Deportes UC in San Carlos de Apoquindo. The Osorno club claimed the first major title of the Chilean basketball season in an all-Southern showdown, with both finalists hailing from the Region de Los Lagos. Puerto Varas looked the more likely winners for much of the contest, taking a 39–35 lead into halftime behind a strong collective effort. Joshua Morris (203-F-1993, college: UTPB) led the charge with 19 points for the puertovarinos, while M. Pérez added 17 in what was a thoroughly competitive display from the smaller-market club. But Español refused to be denied. Ja'Heim Hudson (201-F, college: Auburn, agency: Keter Management) was simply irresistible in the second half, finishing as the game's top scorer with 28 points in a commanding individual performance. Jahsean Corbett (198-G/F-2002, agency: Helping Ballers) complemented him with 17 points, and together the duo engineered one of the most dramatic comebacks of the tournament, overturning a four-point deficit to steal a one-point victory in the dying moments. The final score of 77–76 summed up a tournament full of drama. Espanol had already shown their resilience in Saturday's semifinal, coming from behind to beat Universidad de Concepción 89–87 with Ja'Heim Hudson named MVP of that match. Puerto Varas, for their part, had upset CD Valdivia to reach the final with an impressive comeback of their own. Español's SuperCopa triumph is a statement of intent for the 2026 season. Having fallen to Colegio Los Leones in the 2024 LNB final, the club from Osorno will look to build on this early silverware as the main LNB campaign gets underway. |
