Chilean LNF round 5 best performance: Valentina Castaneda

Valentina Castaneda (2000) had a very impressive game in the last round for Azul y Rojo Las Condes, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 25-year old player had a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds, while her team edged out Sergio Ceppi (#7, 1-7) 77-75. Azul y Rojo maintains the 6th position in Chilean LNF. Azul y Rojo is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 3-5 record. Castaneda just recently signed at Azul y Rojo, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Valentina Castaneda averages this season 7.3ppg and 6.5rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Kennedy Taylor (190-F-2002) of league's second-best CD Universitario Concepcion. Taylor had a very good evening with 20 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course she led Univ.Concepcion to another comfortable win outscoring Quilicura (#8, 0-8) 98-45. Univ.Concepcion's second position in the standings has not changed. Her team lost just one game this season, while they won 7 matches. Taylor is one of the most experienced players at Univ.Concepcion and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Azul y Rojo's star - international center Tatiana Gomez (192-C-1981). Gomez scored 21 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. She was another key player of Azul y Rojo Las Condes, helping her team with a 77-75 win against slightly lower-ranked Sergio Ceppi (#7, 1-7). The chances of Azul y Rojo not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 5 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Gomez could try to bring Azul y Rojo's a little bit higher in the standings. Gomez has individually a great season in Chile. After only 7 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.9rpg (6th best).
