The most exciting game of round 4 in the LBP took place in Cucuta. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 7th ranked Motilones (2-4) to second ranked Caimanes (4-2) 89-86 on Monday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Caimanes made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Rashad Hassan (203-1989, college: SSU) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 8 rebounds and Argentinian guard Alejo Britos (187-1994) who added 20 points and 10 assists (made all of his seven free throws) during the contest. At the losing side the former international Soren De Luque (200-1998) responded with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Caimanes maintains second position with 4-2 record having just two points less than leader Toros. Motilones lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with four games lost. Caimanes are looking forward to face league's leader Toros in Cali in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Motilones will play on the road against Paisas (#5) in Medellin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in Cucuta. Seventh ranked Motilones (2-4) saved a 3-point victory at home edging much higher ranked Caimanes (4-2) 103-100 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Caimanes. The winners were led by Panamanian Josimar Ayarza (205-1987, college: Southern Miss) who scored that evening 28 points and 6 rebounds and Soren De Luque supported him with 25 points and 6 assists. Even a double-double of 19 points and 12 assists by the former international point guard Octavio Munoz (179-2001) did not help to save the game for Caimanes. Caimanes' coach Jaime Ortiz rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Motilones moved-up to sixth place. Caimanes at the other side keep the second position with two games lost. Motilones will play against higher ranked Paisas (#5) in Medellin in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Caimanes will play at home against the league's leader Toros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A very close game took place in Villavicencio between Caimanes and Cimarrones. Second ranked Caimanes (4-2) got a very close home victory over 5th ranked Cimarrones (1-3). Caimanes managed to escape with a 2-point win 98-96 on Friday evening. Alejo Britos fired a double-double by scoring 19 points, 7 rebounds and 13 assists for the winners. John Hernandez produced a double-double by scoring 29 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for lost side. Caimanes maintains second position with 4-2 record having just two points less than leader Toros. Loser Cimarrones dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. Caimanes will meet at home league's leader Toros in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Cimarrones will play against Piratas (#3) and hope to win that game.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 4: Sabios won against Carrib.Storm on the opponent's court 96-80. Paisas lost to undefeated Toros in a home game 76-84. Sabios managed to beat Carrib.Storm on the road 96-89. Paisas lost to undefeated Toros on its own court 67-92. Cimarrones were smashed by Caimanes in Villavicencio 36-69. Motilones lost to Piratas at home 72-77. Piratas managed to outperform Motilones on the opponent's court 82-67.



Carrib.Storm - Sabios 80-96

Very expected game in San Andres Island where bottom-ranked Storm (0-6) was defeated by third ranked Sabios (3-3) 96-80 on Saturday. Sabios forced 19 Carrib.Storm turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Jonathan Salazar (-2001) fired 26 points and 6 assists for the winners. The former international guard Darwin Blanco (188-2003) chipped in 15 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. Five Sabios players scored in double figures. Forward Luis Viloria (-1999) produced 34 points (!!!) and point guard Juan Carlos Ruiz (180-1998) added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sabios have a solid three-game winning streak. Despite that victory Sabios went down to fourth position due to points difference, which they share with Paisas. Loser Storm still closes the standings with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

The game between closely ranked teams ended with top-ranked Toros' (6-0) road victory over their biggest opponent Paisas (3-3) 84-76 on Saturday. Toros looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Toros made 8 blocks. American forward James Montgomery (203-2001, college: Barry, agency: WP Sports Agency) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. The other American import point guard Emmanuel Payton-Clottey (183-1997, college: FSU) chipped in 27 points. Payton-Clottey is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Toros' coach Bernardo Fitz-Gonzalez used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. point guard David Ojeda (181-2003) produced 13 points and 6 assists and forward Johan Rios (-2003) added 13 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Toros have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record. Paisas lost third consecutive game.
