LPB Round 11 (Regular Season): Caimanes are defeated by Sabios

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in LBP. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game between third ranked Caimanes (7-5) and sixth ranked Sabios (5-7) was the most important one in the last round on Thursday night. Caimanes were defeated by Sabios in Manizales 100-87. Sabios made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Sabios outrebounded Caimanes 36-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. Sabios looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for Jonathan Salazar (-2001) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points, 8 assists and 5 steals. Naturalized Venezuelan Jackson Zapata (198-1985) helped adding 25 points and 5 assists. The former international power forward Sebastian Valencia (200-1997) responded with 26 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sabios maintains sixth place with 5-7 record. Caimanes at the other side keep the third position with five games lost. They share it with Cimarrones and Paisas. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

It was an exceptional evening for Panamanian Josimar Ayarza (205-1987, college: Southern Miss) who led the winners and scored 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Soren De Luque accounted for 9 points and 11 rebounds. American-Puerto Rican guard Robert Nieves (186-1999, college: Graceland) came up with 20 points for Carrib.Storm in the defeat. Rather expected game in Manizales where 6th ranked Sabios (5-7) were defeated by third ranked Caimanes (7-5) 92-82 on Wednesday. Caimanes looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Sabios' players. The best player for the winners was American center Myles Carter (206-1997, college: Seattle) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. The former international power forward Sebastian Valencia (200-1997) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Caimanes players scored in double figures. Dominican swingman Braynt De La Cruz (198-2002) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 20 rebounds and Jonathan Salazar (-2001) added 16 points and 7 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Caimanes maintains third place with 7-5 record having just three points less than leader Toros, which they share with Cimarrones and Paisas.
