Ciego de Avila wins LSB - Apr 9, 2009
The Ciego de Avila 'Buffaloes' defeated Azules de Capitalinos La Habana, 78-70 in the seventh and decisive game of the Liga Superior de Balocesto Finals in front of a sellout 'Sala Ramon Frost' Arena. It was a tough game because Capitalinos, who had forced the series to Game 5 by winning Game 4, 71-64 some days ago, started very strong. The fisrt half ended with the home team ahead only by two points 39-37. In the second half, Ciego de Avila enlarged the advatage pointing on a good defense and on the offensive skills of Geoffrei Silvestre (202-F/C-79) and Georvys Elias (199-F-81). Silvestre confirmed to be the best Cuban active player, scoring 35 points as the game MVP. This is the fith triumph in a row for the 'Buffaloes', winners of LSB from 2005 to 2009.
