Santiago League Round 7: Top-ranked CDP wins another game- April 8, 2021

Plaza - CDP 86-100 Santiago League top team - CDP (4-0) managed to deliver another win on Wednesday. This time they beat fifth ranked Plaza (1-4) in Santiago 100-86. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when CDP made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American Paris Bass (203-95, college: Detroit) who helped to win the game recording 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Point guard Adris De Leon (180-84, college: EWU) contributed with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Five CDP players scored in double figures. Naturalized Spanish forward Edward Santana (203-80) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds and guard Oliver Garcia (188-96) added 26 points in the effort for Plaza. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. CDP have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 4-0 record. Plaza at the other side keeps the fifth position with four games lost. CDP's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Santiago to the arena CPN. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fourth consecutive match to second ranked Cupes (4-1) 96-92. It was a great evening for American-Puerto Rican forward Emmanuel Andujar (198-93, college: Manhattan) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Juan Miguel Suero (196-93) helped adding 18 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. At the losing side American-Puerto Rican forward Jose Guitian (207-87, college: Lasell) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and Brahian Mendez scored 23 points and 4 assists. Five Sameji players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Cupes maintains second place with 4-1 record having just one point less than leader CDP. Sameji at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost.
