Capitanes - Santiago Basket 119-99 Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Santiago: Capitanes (#3) and Santiago Basket (#2). Capitanes (4-3) crushed visiting Santiago Basket (3-4) by 20 points 119-99. Capitanes dominated down low during the game scoring 98 of its points in the paint compared to Santiago Basket's 74. They outrebounded Santiago Basket 49-33 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Capitanes looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Santiago Basket's players. Richard Polanco fired 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Guard Oliver Ferreira (189-1993) chipped in 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. American power forward Domont Wright (203-1997, college: Cleveland St.) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard Michael Tillman (195-1996, college: SUNY Adirondack) added 27 points respectively for lost side. Five Capitanes and four Santiago Basket players scored in double figures. Capitanes moved-up to second place, which they share with Santiago Max. It was a great evening for Edwin Espinal (198-1993) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Angel Rivas (198-1993) helped adding 22 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side forward Franklyn Jaquez (197-1997) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and Carlos Martinez (186-1998) scored 17 points.
