Nahziah Carter claims Dominican Rep. LNB weekly honour

American Nahziah Carter (198-G-1999, agency: BMS Sport Agency) had a great game in the last round for league's leader Reales de La Vega and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 4 (Second Stage).
The 25-year old guard had a double-double of 30 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat Caneros (#4, 11-7) 101-92. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Reales to consolidate first place in the Dominican Rep. LNB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. Reales has a very solid 11-6 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. Carter turned to be Reales' top player in his first season with the team. The University of Washington graduate has very impressive stats this year. Carter is in league's top in points (4th best: 17.2ppg) and averages solid 59.2% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young center Luis Santos (203-C-1994) of Caneros Del Este. Santos impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as Caneros lost that game 92-101 to the higher-ranked Reales (#1, 11-6). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Caneros still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 11-7 record is not bad at all. Santos is a newcomer at Caneros and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Eloy Vargas (211-C-1988, agency: BIG) of Metros de Santiago (#3). Vargas scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Metros, leading his team to a 95-82 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Indios (#5, 9-8). Metros needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 11 victories and 7 lost games. Vargas has a great season in Dominican Republic. After 11 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 10.7rpg (2nd best). He also has 1.4bpg and a FGP of 63.7%.
