30-year old power forward Robert Glenn (203-PF-88) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Plaza and receives a Interperformances Santiago League Player of the Week award for round 9.
He had the game-high 34 points adding eight rebounds and five assists for Plaza in his team's victory, helping them to beat Pueblo Nuevo (#4, 3-4) 102-97. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Plaza was forced-out from the top positions in Dominican Rep. San... [read more]

Santiago League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Plaza will need more victories to improve their 4-3 record. In the team's last game Glenn had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Plaza and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Robert Glenn averages just after two games 28.5ppg and 8.0rpg.
Second best performed player last round was Juan Miguel Suero (198-PG-93) of Cupes. He is a guard in his first season at Cupes. In the last game Suero recorded impressive 29 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Bad luck as Cupes was edged by the higher-ranked GUG (#1, 5-2) 92-89. Cupes are still at the very bottom. 5 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Cupes managed to get this year. Suero is one of the most experienced players at Cupes and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 31.3ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 8.0rpg and 5.7apg.
Third place about best performers goes to guard Todd Mayo (190-G-91) of Pueblo Nuevo (#4). Mayo showcased his all-around game by recording 29 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the last round. Despite Mayo's great performance Pueblo Nuevo lost 97-102 to #2 ranked Plaza. But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The chances of Pueblo Nuevo ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 4 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Mayo could help Pueblo Nuevo to bring them higher in the standings. Mayo has a great season in Dominican Republic. After only 6 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.8ppg (6th best) and assists with 3.3apg (8th best).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Aneurys Parra) of Cupes - 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists 5. Renaldo Dixon (206-C-90) of Pueblo Nuevo - 16 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists 6. Roberto Garcia (G) of Plaza - 18 points and 7 rebounds 7. Alejandro Liriano (197-F-81) of GUG - 23 points and 3 rebounds 8. Anthony Cox (206-G-83) of Plaza - 12 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists 9. Kelvin Pena (193-G-80) of GUG - 23 points and 5 rebounds 10. Ronald Tineo) of Pueblo Nuevo - 25 points and 7 rebounds

The 22-year old guard got a double-double of 29 points and thirteen assists, while his team beat Sameji (3-2) 112-107. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Plaza to jump to the first place in the Dominican Rep. Santiago League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost two games earlier this season. Plaza has a very solid 3-2 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Garcia had a remarkable 58.3% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Plaza, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Garcia has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (3rd best: 24.0ppg), assists (3rd best: 7.3apg) and averages solid 53.2% FGP and 42.9% from behind 3-point line.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 27-year old American guard Todd Mayo (190-G-91) of Pueblo Nuevo. Mayo impressed basketball fans with 38 points and 6 rebounds. Bad luck as Pueblo Nuevo was edged by slightly lower-ranked Cupes (#6, 1-4) 116-112. This loss caused Pueblo Nuevo to drop to 4th position in the standings. His team's 3-3 record is not bad at all. Mayo is a newcomer at Pueblo Nuevo and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.4ppg (#7). His other stats are also decent: 4.6rpg and 3.2apg.
The third best performed player last round was Juan Miguel Suero (198-PG-93) of Cupes (#6). Suero showcased his all-around game by recording 24 points, eight rebounds and nine assists in the last round. He was a key player of Cupes, leading his team to a 116-112 win against slightly higher-ranked Pueblo Nuevo (#4, 3-3). Cupes can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 1-4 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Suero he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Suero has individually a great season in Dominican Republic. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 32.5ppg (best scorer), rebounds with 7.5rpg (8th best) and assists with 7.0apg (5th best).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Osvaldo Lopez (189-G-83) of Cupes - 34 points and 4 rebounds 5. Ivan Johnson (203-C-84) of Sameji - 25 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists 6. Aneurys Parra) of Cupes - 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists 7. Renaldo Dixon (206-C-90) of Pueblo Nuevo - 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists 8. Jamel Staten (198-G-83) of Sameji - 23 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists 9. Robert Glenn (203-PF-88) of Plaza - 23 points and 8 rebounds 10. Jose Americo Delgado (193-C-90) of Plaza - 19 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists
