Vargas' double-double lands him Player of the Week award- June 18, 2022
He had a double-double of 36 points and 11 rebounds, while his team was edged out by Soles (#4, 6-5) 89-88. Metros maintains the 6th position in Dominican Rep. league. Metros is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 6th lost game this season out of 11 games. In the team's last game Vargas had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Metros, being already a very valuable addition to the team. University of Kentucky graduate has very impressive stats this year. Vargas is in league's top in points (7th best: 19.0ppg), rebounds (5th best: 9.2rpg) and averages solid 1.2bpg and 59.2% FGP. Second best performed player last round was Adonis Henriquez (SF) of Indios. He is a in his first season at Indios. In the last game Henriquez recorded impressive 20 points, 4 rebounds and 9 assists. Of course he led Indios to another comfortable win 107-88 over the lower-ranked Caneros (#8, 3-8) being unquestionably team leader. This victory allowed Indios to move up to 3rd position in the standings. His team's 6-5 record is not bad at all. Henriquez is one of the most experienced players at Indios and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. Third place about best performers goes to another Metros' star - forward Brandon Moss (208-PF). Moss scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds. Despite Moss' great performance Metros lost 88-89 to slightly higher-ranked Soles (#4, 6-5). But his team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates. The chances of Metros ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 6 games, recording just five victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Moss could help Metros to bring them higher in the standings. Moss has a great season in Dominican Republic. After 10 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.4rpg (7th best). He also has 1.5bpg and FGP: 68.9%. Other top performing players last week: 4.
