LNB Round 3 (Second Stage): Leones keep a leadership position

Leones defeated Marineros in Santo Domingo 96-92. Leones looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Trahson Burrell (201-1992, college: Memphis) who scored 31 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Naturalized American Gerardo Suero (196-1989, college: Albany) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Sydney Curry (203-2000, college: GCU) who recorded a double-double by scoring 27 points and 15 rebounds. Marineros' coach Julio Cesar Javier tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Marineros will play next round against strong Indios trying to get back on the winning streak. Leones will try to continue on its current victory against Metros in Santiago.
Metros (10-7) recorded a loss in Santiago. Hosts were rolled over by Titanes (8-9) 110-91. It was a good game for swingman Jassel Perez (195-2001) who led his team to a victory with 29 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Luis Montero contributed with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Juan Guerrero (203-1993) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds for Metros. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Titanes will play against Caneros (#6) in La Romana in the next round. Metros will play at home against Leones (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in La Romana supposed to be also quite interesting. Indios (9-7) played at the court of Caneros (7-9). Indios did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 90-70 on Sunday. It was a great evening for Luismal Ferreiras who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 18 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Austin Trice with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 17 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Indios will meet Marineros (#5) in the next round. Caneros will play against Titanes in San Cristobal and it may be a tough game between close rivals.




Caneros - Indios 70-90

The game in La Romana supposed to be also quite interesting. Indios (9-7) played at the court of Caneros (7-9). Indios did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 90-70 on Sunday. Indios looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Indios made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for Luismal Ferreiras (200-2003) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 18 rebounds. American guard Ramon Galloway (190-1991, college: La Salle) helped adding 25 points. The best for the losing side was American forward Austin Trice (201-2000, college: ODU) with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 17 rebounds and guard Bryan Polanco (198, college: Shorter) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Indios will meet Marineros (#5) in the next round. Caneros will play against Titanes in San Cristobal and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
