Jassel Perez claims Dominican Rep. LNB weekly honour

Jassel Perez (195-G/F-2001) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Titanes del Distrito Nacional and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 3 (Second Stage).
The 24-year old swingman had the game-high 29 points adding seven rebounds and four assists for Titanes in his team's victory, helping them to crush Metros (#2, 10-7) with 19-point margin 110-91. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Titanes is placed at 4th position in Dominican Rep. LNB. Titanes is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 9th lost game this season out of 17 games. In the team's last game Perez had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Titanes, through which he has constantly improved. Perez has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (2nd best: 20.3ppg) and averages solid 3.0spg and 60.3% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American swingman Trahson Burrell (201-F/G-1992) of league's best team Leones de Santo Domingo. Burrell impressed basketball fans with 31 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. It was enough for Leones to edge Marineros (8-9) by 4 points 96-92. The Second Stage is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Burrell is one of the most experienced players at Leones and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.7ppg (#5). His other stats are also decent: 7.3rpg and 3.1apg.

The third best performed player last round was American Sydney Curry (203-F-2000) of Marineros de Puerto Plata (#5). Curry scored 27 points and grabbed 15 rebounds (!!!). Despite Curry's great performance the Marineros lost 92-96 to Leones (#1, 10-6). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Marineros ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 9 games, recording just eight victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Curry could help Marineros to bring them higher in the standings. Curry has a great season in Dominican Republic. After 17 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.2ppg (3rd best) and rebounds with 10.5rpg (4th best).
