Unicaja Malaga (Liga Endesa) agreed terms with 28-year old Dominican swingman Chris Duarte (197cm-86kg-1997, college: Oregon) for new 2025-26 season. Duarte played this summer at Vaqueros de Bayamon in Puerto Rican BSN league. He managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year. In 28 BSN games just recently he had very impressive stats: 19.5ppg, 4.9rpg, 4.8apg and 1.6spg. Duarte was also named League Player of the Week (2 times).
The most of last season he spent at the Bulls in NBA where in 17 games he recorded only 2.1ppg and 1.2rpg. He also played for Bulls in U.S. NBA-G-League. In two games he averaged remarkable 25.5ppg, 4.5rpg, 5.5apg and 3.5spg.
In 2021 he was drafted by Indiana Pacers (NBA) in first round (13th overall). The former University of Oregon standout is in his fifth season in pro basketball.
Duarte represented Dominican Republic at the FIBA Olympic Games Qualifying Tournament in Piraeus (Greece) last year. His stats at that event were 3 games: 19.0ppg, 4.0rpg, 2.7apg, Steals-3(2.3spg), FGP: 63.2%, 3PT: 35.0%, FT: 80.0%.
He has played also professionally in other USA team, NBA (Sacramento Kings) and NBA G League (Indiana Mad Ants). Duarte won NJCAA D1 District VIII championship title in 2018 and 2019.
He was voted Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award Finalist back in 2021. Duarte played also for Northwest Florida State College for 2 years.
