Dominican Rep. LNB round 5 (Second Stage) best performance: Luis Montero (by Hoops Agents)

Luis Montero (203-SF-1993) had a very impressive game in the last round for Titanes del Distrito Nacional, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5 (Second Stage).
The 32-year old player was the main contributor (31 points, seven rebounds and four assists) to his team's victory, helping them to outclass Leones (#4, 10-9) with 29-point margin 110-81. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Titanes is placed at 3rd position in Dominican Rep. LNB. Titanes is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 9th lost game this season out of 20 games. In the team's last game Montero had a remarkable 62.5% from 2-point range and got six three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He has many years of experience at Titanes, through which he has constantly improved. Luis Montero averages this season 18.0ppg, 9.4rpg and 5.0apg.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Sydney Curry (203-F-2000) of Marineros de Puerto Plata. Curry had a very good evening with a double-double of 29 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as Marineros lost that game 96-103 to slightly lower-ranked Caneros (#6, 8-11). Marineros managed to keep the same 5th spot in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 9-11 record. Curry is one of the most experienced players at Marineros and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.3ppg (#1). He also registered 10.4 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Austin Trice (201-F-2000) of Caneros Del Este (#6). Trice scored 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Caneros, leading his team to a 103-96 win against slightly higher-ranked Marineros (#5, 9-11). The chances of Caneros ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 11 games, recording just eight victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Trice could help Caneros to bring them higher in the standings. Trice has a very solid season. In 4 games in Dominican Republic he scored 21.5ppg.

10. Miguel Simon (203-F-1994) of Indios - 16 points and 8 rebounds
