It was a key game for the second position in the league. Indios made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Ramon Galloway (190-1991, college: La Salle) who scored 28 points. Swingman Adrio Bailey (197-1997, college: Arkansas) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Sterling Manley (213-1998, college: UNC) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Indios moved-up to second place. Leones lost third consecutive game. Leader Metros delivered the twelfth victory. This time they crushed 6th ranked Caneros (8-11) 110-69 in Santiago. It was a good game for American center Henry Sims (208-1990, college: Georgetown) who led his team to a victory with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Juan Guerrero contributed with 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. American forward Austin Trice (201-2000, college: ODU) replied with 16 points and 7 rebounds for Caneros. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Metros maintains first position with 12-8 record. Caneros at the other side stay at the bottom place with 11 games lost. Metros will play against Marineros (#5) in Puerto Plata in the next round. Caneros will play at home against Leones and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Puerto Plata was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Titanes (11-9) played at the court of 5th ranked Marineros (9-11). Titanes managed to secure a 5-point victory 85-80 on Sunday. Luis Montero had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners. The best for the losing side was Jonatan Bello with 21 points. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Titanes have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Loser Marineros keep the fifth position with 11 games lost. Titanes will meet at home league's second-placed Indios in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Marineros will play against the league's leader Metros in Santiago and hope to secure a win.
