There are only two more rounds left in the Second Stage in LNB. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most important game in the last round took place in Puerto Plata between third ranked Leones (11-10) and fifth ranked Marineros (10-12) on Friday night. Leones were crushed by Marineros on the road 100-78. Marineros looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Leones' players. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Jonatan Bello (195-2001) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals and naturalized Venezuelan Kelvin Pena (193-1980, college: Southeastern) who added 20 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Marineros' coach Julio Cesar Javier felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. point guard Jaison Valdez (188-1995) responded with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Marineros maintains fifth position with 10-12 record. Leones at the other side dropped to the fourth place with ten games lost. Marineros are looking forward to face league's second-placed Indios in San Francisco in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Leones will play at home against the league's leader Metros and are hoping to win this game.
Very significant was Metros' (#1, 14-8) victory against second-ranked Titanes (12-10) 87-78. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Titanes. The winners were led by naturalized American guard Omar Silverio (190-1998, college: WVU) who scored that evening 22 points and 6 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots) and Henry Sims supported him with 14 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Even 32 points and 6 rebounds by swingman Jassel Perez (195-2001) did not help to save the game for Titanes. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Metros have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 14-8 record. Defending champion Titanes dropped to the third place with ten games lost. Metros will play against Leones (#4) in Santo Domingo in the next round. Titanes will play on the road against Caneros in La Romana and hope to get back on the winning track.
