UMFN Njardvik (Subway League) agreed terms with 33-year old Austrian-Dominican Rep. ex-international swingman Carlos Mateo (198cm-95kg-1992) for the new 2025-26 season. It is actually his comeback to Njardvik as he has played here before. He played last season at Botafogo in the Brazilian NBB league. In 18 games, he had 8.2ppg, 1.7rpg, and 1.4apg.
He was also a member of the Austrian international program for some years. Mateo played for Austrian Senior National Team between 2017 and 2020 and previously for the Under 18 National Team in 2010.
He is quite an experienced player. Mateo has played also in Austria (Lions, Raiffeisen Flyers Wels, Gunners Oberwart, Gmunden Swans, and BC Vienna), Denmark (Naestved), France (Lille), Germany (Falcons and Koblenz), Spain (Valladolid), and the Dominican Republic (Plaza and Indios).
Among many awards, his team made it to the Alpe Adria Cup final in 2023. He was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Danish Ligaen Honorable Mention back in 2020.
