Penarol Mar del Plata (La Liga) has signed 30-year-old double-passport holder Dominican Rep. 198cm forward Xavier Carreras for the new season. He is the second import player on the roster, with USA's Gus Okafor signing earlier. Carreras most recently played at Riachuelo de La Rioja. In 43 La Liga games last season, he averaged 9.7ppg, 5.3rpg, and 1.1spg.
He has played also in Colombia (Piratas), the Dominican Republic (Los Prados and Caneros), and Argentina (Ciclista, Regatas, River Plate, Obera, and Rocamora).
His team finished as the runner-up in the regular season in the Colombian LPB Apertura Group A in 2023.
