Espinal's double-double lands him Player of the Week award

Edwin Espinal

29-year old Edwin Espinal (198-SF-1996) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked GIE Cibao Immortals and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 3.
He had a double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds, while his team edged out Ponton (#1, 6-1) 96-92. Immortals maintains the 2nd position in their group in the Dominican Rep. league. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Immortals will need more victories to improve their 5-2 record. In the team's last game Espinal had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Immortals, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Espinal has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (7th best: 19.6ppg), rebounds (4th best: 7.8rpg), assists (7th best: 2.4apg) and averages solid 55.4% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Brayan Rosado (196-F-2001) of top-ranked Escuadron Ponton. He is a forward in his first season at Ponton. In the last game Rosado recorded an impressive double-double of 32 points and 10 rebounds. Of course Ponton cruised to a 100-88 relatively comfortable win over LDC Ignite (1-6). The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Rosado is one of the most experienced players at Ponton and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 25.0ppg (#3). He also registered 9.1 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to another Immortals' star - forward Randy Ovalle (201-F-2004). Ovalle showcased his all-around game by recording 15 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists (!!!) in the last round. He was another key player of GIE Cibao Immortals, helping his team with a 111-96 easy win against #3 ranked Parque Hostos in a game of the week. Immortals needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in Western Conference. Their record at this point is 5 victories and 2 lost games. Ovalle has a great season in Dominican Republic. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.5rpg (3rd best) and assists with 6.3apg (best passer).
