Salvadorean Liga Superior round 14 best performance: Gladis Maravilla (by Hoops Agents)- October 23, 2023Center Gladis Maravilla (185-C-1985) had a great game in the last round for top-ranked Panteras, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 14.
The 38-year old player was the main contributor (21 points, nine rebounds and two assists) to her team's victory, helping them to beat Santa Tecla Elite (#4, 6-5) 70-58. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Panteras to take over top position in the Salvadorean Liga Superior. Panteras have a solid 9-2 record. In the team's last game Maravilla had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range. She turned to be Panteras' top player in her first season with the team. Gladis Maravilla averages just after two games 18.5ppg and 7.5rpg. The second best player in last round's games was another Panteras' star - young Leslie Sermeno (176-C-1997). Sermeno had a very good evening with a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds. Of course Panteras cruised to a 70-58 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Santa Tecla Elite (#4, 6-5). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Panteras consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. Her team lost just two games this season, while they won 9 matches. Sermeno is a newcomer at Panteras and despite she is not a team leader yet, every game she becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often. Third on the list of top players last round was guard Karla Candelas (172-PG-1988) of Santa Tecla Elite (#4). Candelas scored 6 points and grabbed fifteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Candelas' great performance Santa Tecla Elite lost 58-70 to #1 ranked Panteras. But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Santa Tecla Elite needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 6 victories and 5 lost games. Candelas has a very solid season. In 3 games in El Salvador she scored 10.0ppg. Other top performing players last week: 4. Kryssia Urias (185-C-1994) of Teclenas - 9 points and 12 rebounds 5. Paola Ortiz (172-C-2001) of Teclenas - 7 points and 17 rebounds 6. Abigail Abarca) of Panteras - 13 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists 7. Camila Ruiz (165-SF-1995) of Teclenas - 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists 8. Silvia Perez (158-F-2002) of Santa Tecla Elite - 21 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assists 9. Sofia Perdomo (163-F-2003) of Santa Tecla Elite - 14 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists 10. Heimy Lopez (167-G-2004) of Panteras - 12 points and 4 rebounds The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
