Salvadorean Liga Mayor round 3 best performance: Margarita Pinto

Center Margarita Pinto (179-C-1989) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Santiagueno BC, receiving a Hoops Agents Liga Mayor Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 35-year old player had a double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds, while her team crushed, the league's bottom-ranked team Ahuachapan (#8, 0-2) with 24-point margin 82-58. Thanks to this victory Santiagueno moved-up to the 7th position in Salvadorean Liga Mayor. Santiagueno is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 1-2 record. Pinto has many years of experience at Santiagueno, through which she has constantly improved. Margarita Pinto has solid league stats. She is in league's top in rebounds (5th best: 11.0rpg).

The second best player in last round's games was young Cuban Dairis Tornell (176-PG-1992) of Ahuachapan BC. Tornell had a very good evening with 33 points and 8 rebounds. Bad luck as Ahuachapan lost that game 58-82 to Santiagueno (1-2). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Tornell is one of the most experienced players at Ahuachapan and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. Third on the list of top players last round was Cuban Eugenia Fraguela (1996) of Liga Municipal Monsenor Romero 2nd team (#6). Fraguela showcased her all-around game by recording 27 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the last round. She was a key player of LMMR 2, leading her team to a 62-43 easy win against Santiagueno (#7, 1-2). The chances of LMMR 2 ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 3 games, recording just two victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Fraguela could help LMMR 2 to bring them higher in the standings. Fraguela has a great season in El Salvador. After only 5 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.8ppg (5th best) and rebounds with 10.2rpg (8th best).
