Liga Mayor Round 10 (Regular Season): Ahuachapan record their first victory

Ahuachapan has finally registered their first victory this season after nine consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Santiagueno (2-8) 88-77 on Saturday. Ahuachapan looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Cuban guard Elianis Armenteros (175-2000) scored 27 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Cuban point guard Dairis Tornell (176-1992) chipped in 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side Guatemalan point guard Astrid Garcia (165-1995) responded with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Ahuachapan maintains ninth position with 1-9 record. It was Santiagueno's fifth loss in a row. They keep the seventh place with eight games lost. Ahuachapan are looking forward to face higher ranked Salvadorenas 2 (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Santiagueno will have a break next round.
Liga Mayor top team - Metapan (10-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Santiagueno (2-8) in Usultan 96-60. American point guard Britney Jones (174-1987, college: UAB) notched a double-double by scoring 26 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the effort and Yayma Boulet supported her with 20 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Metapan's coach Reynaldo Corrales felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 14 points and 20 rebounds by Mexican Gema Roa did not help to save the game for Santiagueno. Undefeated Metapan have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-0 record. Santiagueno lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with eight games lost. Metapan will play against league's second-placed San Salvador on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Santiagueno will have a break next round.

In the last two games of round 10 LMMR 2 was destroyed by San Salvador on the opponent's court 91-60. Salvadorenas 2 outscored Santa Tecla 2 in a home game 67-48.

San Salvador - LMMR 2 91-60

Very expected game when 6th ranked LMMR 2 (4-6) was crushed on the road by second ranked San Salvador (9-1) 91-60. San Salvador dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to LMMR 2's 32. San Salvador forced 23 LMMR 2 turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by LMMR 2's players. Cuban point guard Arlenys Romero (176-1984) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 assists and 6 steals to lead the effort and Cuban Anisleidys Galindo (181-1989) supported her with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Five San Salvador players scored in double figures. San Salvador's coach Rainel Panfet felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 26 points and 7 rebounds by Cuban Eugenia Fraguela (-1996) did not help to save the game for LMMR 2. Liset Valdes added 4 points and 19 rebounds for lost side. San Salvador have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 9-1 record behind leader Metapan. LMMR 2 at the other side keeps the sixth place with six games lost. San Salvador will play against league's leader Metapan at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. LMMR 2 will play against Salvadorenas 2 (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

This time Salvadorenas 2 used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Santa Tecla 67-48. Salvadorenas 2 had a 34-21 advantage in offensive rebounds.
