The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Metapan as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Metapan smashed 4th ranked Salvadorenas 2 at home 79-51. Metapan forced 19 Salvadorenas 2 turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for Cuban center Yayma Boulet (193-1984) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds. American point guard Britney Jones (174-1987, college: UAB) contributed with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 13 assists for the winners. Metapan's coach Reynaldo Corrales felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cuban forward Eilen Gilbert (183-1998) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds for Salvadorenas 2. Metapan have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Salvadorenas 2 at the other side keeps the fourth place with six games lost. Salvadorenas 2 will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Metapan will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Santa Tecla 2 at home.
Liga Mayor top team - San Salvador (13-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed ninth ranked Ahuachapan (1-12) 99-73. Worth to mention a quality performance of Cuban Anisleidys Galindo (181-1989) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and Elisa Dominguez who added 21 points during the contest. Coach Rainel Panfet's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Cuban guard Elianis Armenteros (175-2000) with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. San Salvador have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Despite that victory San Salvador went down to second position due to points difference. Ahuachapan lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 12 games lost. San Salvador will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Santa Tecla 2's coach Ernesto Lahud rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Batanecas have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 9-4 record having five points less than leader Metapan. Santa Tecla 2 lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with six games lost.
