Liga Mayor Round 3 (Regular Season): Leader Metapan gets another victory

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Liga Mayor. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

Metapan delivered the fourth consecutive win on Saturday night. This time they crushed Ahuachapan (1-2) 96-58. Metapan forced 20 Ahuachapan turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Ahuachapan's players. The best player for the winners was Cuban center Rachel Contreras (184-1999) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 22 rebounds. Monica Aristondo (163-1992) chipped in 30 points, 7 assists and 7 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was Cuban swingman Maria Montero (176-1998) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Metapan are looking forward to face L.M.Mons. (#4) in Santa Ana in the next round. Ahuachapan will play at home against San Salvador and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in supposed to be also worth to mention about. San Salvador (3-1) played at the court of Santa Ana (1-2). San Salvador did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 92-72. It was a good game for Anisleidy Galindo who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Arlenys Romero contributed with 27 points and 6 assists for the winners. Guard Vanessa Hernandez (157-1997) answered with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for Santa Ana. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. San Salvador will play against Ahuachapan (#5) on the road in the next round. Santa Ana will have a break next round.
The game with biggest result difference took place in San Salvador. Local San Salvador (3-1) outscored Capitalinas (0-4) 82-44 on Thursday night. Worth to mention a quality performance of Arlenys Romero who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was Liliana Flores with 13 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. San Salvador will meet Ahuachapan (#5) on the road in the next round. Capitalinas will play against Ahuachapan and hope to get finally their first victory.

In the last game of round 3 winless Capitalinas were crushed by L.M.Mons. in Santa Ana 78-59.

San Salvador - Capitalinas 82-44

The game with biggest result difference took place in San Salvador. Local San Salvador (3-1) outscored Capitalinas (0-4) 82-44 on Thursday night. San Salvador dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Capitalinas' 28. San Salvador forced 29 Capitalinas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Capitalinas' players. Worth to mention a quality performance of Cuban point guard Arlenys Romero (176-1984) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 4 assists. Anisleidy Galindo helped adding 17 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was guard Liliana Flores (154-2009) with 13 points and 6 rebounds and forward Elba Sorto (175-2008) scored 12 points. There was no surprise in Santa Ana where Capitalinas (0-4) were crushed by L.M.Mons. (2-2) 78-59 on Friday. It was a great evening for Dominican swingman Yenifer Jimenez (163-1999) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. Katherinne Rivas helped adding 7 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. L.M.Mons.'s coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was forward Elba Sorto (175-2008) with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and Jaylin Cruz scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. L.M.Mons. will meet Santa Tecla (#7) on the road in the next round. Capitalinas will play against Ahuachapan and look forward to get finally their first victory.
