Metapan delivered the fourth consecutive win on Saturday night. This time they crushed Ahuachapan (1-2) 96-58. Metapan forced 20 Ahuachapan turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Ahuachapan's players. The best player for the winners was Cuban center Rachel Contreras (184-1999) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 22 rebounds. Monica Aristondo (163-1992) chipped in 30 points, 7 assists and 7 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was Cuban swingman Maria Montero (176-1998) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Metapan are looking forward to face L.M.Mons. (#4) in Santa Ana in the next round. Ahuachapan will play at home against San Salvador and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in supposed to be also worth to mention about. San Salvador (3-1) played at the court of Santa Ana (1-2). San Salvador did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 92-72. It was a good game for Anisleidy Galindo who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Arlenys Romero contributed with 27 points and 6 assists for the winners. Guard Vanessa Hernandez (157-1997) answered with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for Santa Ana. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. San Salvador will play against Ahuachapan (#5) on the road in the next round. Santa Ana will have a break next round.
The game with biggest result difference took place in San Salvador. Local San Salvador (3-1) outscored Capitalinas (0-4) 82-44 on Thursday night. Worth to mention a quality performance of Arlenys Romero who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was Liliana Flores with 13 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. San Salvador will meet Ahuachapan (#5) on the road in the next round. Capitalinas will play against Ahuachapan and hope to get finally their first victory.
