Maria Montero's triple-double lands her Liga Mayor Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

Cuban Swingman Maria Montero (176-G/F-1998) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Ahuachapan BC, receiving a Hoops Agents Liga Mayor Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 27-year old player recorded a triple-double of 15 points adding also 26 rebounds and 17 assists, while her team beat L.M.Mons. (#6, 3-5) 75-66. Ahuachapan maintains the 7th position in Salvadorean Liga Mayor. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 6 games and recorded just two victories. Montero just recently signed at Ahuachapan, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Maria Montero has solid league stats. She is in league's top in points (9th best: 15.0ppg), rebounds (4th best: 14.8rpg) and averages impressive 3.0spg.

The second best player in last round's games was young Ecuadorian Genesis Zabaleta (180-C-2002) of ITD Santa Tecla. Zabaleta had a very good evening with a double-double of 19 points and 22 rebounds. It was enough for Santa Tecla to edge slightly higher-ranked Metapan (#3, 5-3) 68-66. Santa Tecla's 5th position in the standings has not changed. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-5 record. Zabaleta is one of the most experienced players at Santa Tecla and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was Anisleidy Galindo of league's top team San Salvador. Galindo scored 24 points and grabbed 24 rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of San Salvador, leading her team to a 76-73 win against #2 ranked Salvadorenas in a game of the week. San Salvador confirms their top position in the standings. Galindo has a great season in El Salvador. After only 8 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.9ppg (6th best) and rebounds with 16.3rpg (3rd best). She also has 3.0spg and 1.4bpg.
