Monica Aristondo claims Salvadorean Liga Mayor Hoops Agents weekly honour

Experienced Monica Aristondo (163-SG-1992) had a great game in the last round for AD Isidro Metapan and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Liga Mayor Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 33-year old shooting guard had the game-high 36 points adding eight rebounds and three assists for Metapan in her team's victory, helping them to outclass Santa Ana (#4, 4-5) with 41-point margin 100-59. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Metapan maintains the 3rd position in Salvadorean Liga Mayor. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Metapan will need more victories to improve their 6-3 record. In the team's last game Aristondo had a remarkable 53.3% from 2-point range. She just recently signed at Metapan, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Aristondo has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (6th best: 20.1ppg), assists (8th best: 3.9apg) and averages solid 5.8spg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Cuban swingman Maria Montero (176-G/F-1998) of Ahuachapan BC. Montero impressed basketball fans with a triple-double of 11 points, 16 rebounds and 20 assists. Of course she led Ahuachapan to another comfortable win outscoring Capitalinas (#8, 0-9) 96-67. Ahuachapan's 7th position in the standings has not changed. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 3-6 record. Montero is one of the most experienced players at Ahuachapan and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was another Ahuachapan's star - Heimy Lopez (167-G-2004). Lopez got into 30-points club by scoring 43 points in the last round. She was another key player of Ahuachapan BC, helping her team with a 96-67 easy win against Capitalinas (#8, 0-9). The chances of Ahuachapan not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 6 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Lopez could try to bring Ahuachapan's a little bit higher in the standings. Lopez has individually a great season in El Salvador. After only 9 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 24.8ppg (best scorer).
