USA, Canada, Argentina and Brazil reach semifinals in Buenos Aires

Canada - El Salvador 92-24
Canada advanced into the semifinal stage after they drubbed El Salvador. The North American team piled up a massive 49-15 halftime lead and cruised to the victory in the second half. Fatima Diakhate (196-C-2004) posted 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Cheyenne Rowe (187-F-2004) added 12 points and 11 rebounds for Canada. Ana Ruiz (159-PG-2005), Gabriela Alfaro (167-F-2004) and Nicole Ayala (171-SG-2005) had 4 points each for El Salvador.

Colombia - Argentina 55-64
Argentina outscored Colombia to punch their semifinal ticket. Argentina jumped off to a 15-9 lead after ten minutes. They followed with a 19-14 run in the third term to secure a 10-point lead at the final break. Nicole Tapari (172-G-2004) tossed in 14 points, while Lara Tribouley (181-F-2004) added 13 points for Argentina. Colombia responded with game-high 23 points from Juliana Gomez (183-SG-2004).

Brazil - Puerto Rico 73-53
Taissa Nascimento (178-SF-2005) tallied 18 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists to lead Brazil past Puerto Rico. Brazil grabbed a 28-8 lead after ten minutes. The teams traded baskets throughout the reminder of the game as Brazil rallied to the victory at the end. Stephany Goncalves (180-C-2004) finished with 16 points for Brazil. Sofia Munoz (170-PG-2007) and Camila De Pool (170-SF-2006) replied with 14 points each for Puerto Rico.

USA - Mexico 77-41
USA coasted past Mexico to enter the semis in Buenos Aires. Cotie McMahon (180-F-2004) stepped up with 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. USA accounted for a 29-8 lead ten minutes into the game. They extended the lead at 31-point mark at the big break and cruised to the victory in the second half. Kira Rice hauled in 14 points for the USA. Anisa Jeffreis (2004) and Jennifer Moreno (2004) posted 12 points each for Mexico.
