Dominican Republic - Bahamas 69-70 OT
Bahamas earned the first victory at the CBC Championship. They upset Dominican Republic in overtime to gain 1-1 record in Group A. Jonquell Jones (193-F) stepped up with 23 points and 27 rebounds. Bahamas got to a confident start. They established a 20:13 lead after ten minutes. Dominican Republic narrowed the deficit in the second term. They pulled within 3 points at halftime 27:30. Bahamas stretched the gap at 9-point mark heading into the fourth stanza. But Dominican Republic bounced back with a 20:11 run in the fourth frame to force overtime. Sweeting sank two free throws late in the extra period to seal the win for Bahamas. Shanea Ambrister tallied 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Leashia Grant had 10 points and 13 boards in the win. Jennifer Estrella (183-G-88) responded with 14 points for Dominican Republic. Andreina Paniagua (191-F-78) had 13 points in the loss.
U.S. Virgin Islands - Barbados 83-65
Virgin Islands claimed the second consecutive victory at the CBC Championship. They outscored Barbados to stay on top of Group A at 2-0 record. Natalie Day (182-G/F-90, college: Portland) stepped up with 25 points and 8 rebounds to pace the winners. Virgin Islands held their opponents to just 4 points in the first period to gain a 10-point lead. They boosted the lead to as many as 15 points at the interval 38:23. Virgin Islands netted 34 points in the third term to clear off for good. Tanecka Carey (175-G-91) chipped in 23 points, while Sherelle George had 7 points for the winners. Dale-Marie Cumberbatch (180-F-88) responded with 28 points and 10 rebounds for Barbados. Toni Atherley had 18 points in the loss.
Group B
Jamaica - Saint Vincent 55-22
Jamaica improved at 2-0 record at the start of the CBC Championship. They knocked down Saint Vincent to climb on top of Group B. Shenneika Smith (185-F/C-89, college: St.John's) netted 12 points to pace the winning side. Jamaica eked out a 9:6 lead after a slow first quarter. They stepped on the gas in the second period. Jamaica boosted the lead to as many as 12 points at the big break 25:13. Jamaica triggered a 22:4 run in the third term to secure a comfortable 30-point lead before the fourth frame. Jamaica never looked back afterwards. Sasha Dixon (167-G-87) had 10 points, while Jennifer George added 8 points for the winners. Vasha Adams (F/C-83) answered with 11 points for Saint Vincent. Suzette Jackson had 5 points in the defeat.
Trinidad and Tobago - Guyana 96-33
Trinidad and Tobago earned the second straight victory at the CBC Championship in Tortola. They fired past Guyana to remain unbeaten. Rhea Codio (165-G-88) scored 15 points to pace the winners. Trinidad and Tobago claimed a 17:10 lead after the opening quarter. They stretched the gap in the second term. Trinidad and Tobago accounted for a 35:19 halftime lead. Trinidad and Tobago exploded with 61 points in the second half and cruised to the victory. Rhonda Davis and Joelisa Cooper (F) added 13 points each for Trinidad and Tobago. Natasha Alder (180-F) responded with 14 points for Guyana. Ginelle Ifill tossed in 6 points in the loss.
